I qualified to practice massage 12 years ago, after having worked as a legal secretary for a few years. I am a strong believer in science. My work is grounded in the study of anatomy and physiology, not “healing” or “energy balancing”.
There are some massage myths that unfortunately get repeated by massage therapists, such as that you need to drink lots of water after a massage or that massage can detox your body. There is no evidence to support this and, in fact, there is no complementary therapy that can detox your body. Your liver does this quite adequately on its own.
I have also completed specialised courses in pregnancy massage and labour, as well as courses on foot massage and “natural facelift” massage.
I am a member of a professional body (IPTI), which holds copies of my qualifications and arranges my insurance.
My clients come from all walks of life, which makes my days more interesting. I have treated clients ranging from professional dancers and people training for a sports event to those of you with sedentary occupations who don’t have time or energy to exercise.
